Who we are
Kolacki Forge started, similar to many owner-run small businesses, as a hobby. Based in Northwest Indiana, Kolacki Forge was founded by Jonathan Kolacki. Jonathan began forging at a young age and as his work improved he decided to start a business and share his creations with the world.
“Here at Kolacki Forge, we strive to deliver quality hand-crafted products around the world. We aim to reach people who know the value of owning a finely made custom tool that will last for decades to come and who appreciate the unique challenges that creating each piece brings. Our attention to detail is unparalleled and we are dedicated to continually improving the quality of our products. Best of all, each one of our pieces is personally crafted from 100% recycled materials in the heartland of the USA!” -Jonathan Kolacki
Meet the Maker
Jonathan Kolacki was 10 years old when he first began blacksmithing. Since then it has become a hobby, an obsession, and eventually, a business. Growing up in Northwest Indiana as the second eldest of six siblings he and his older brother Nick began to tinker with many gadgets at a young age. Eventually, due to his father’s love of steel, Jon began experimenting with making knives.
“I remember Nick and I were in the garage and we figured if we cut this piece of steel it could look like a knife. We went inside and told our mother “Mom we’re going to make a knife.” she laughed and said, “No you’re not!” We went back to the garage. Soon after, our first knife was complete. It wasn’t pretty but it was a knife. We never looked back. My Dad still keeps that first knife on his workbench over 7 years later.” -Jon Kolacki
Since the early days of his knife-making journey, Jon has improved his skills and tools. This included building a new forge and fabricating a beautiful 2x72 belt grinder out of scrap.
Now as a business, Jon would like to continue growing. The support of our customers makes that dream a reality. The business you give us allows us to offer these quality hand-crafted products to a wide audience. We hope to continue doing so in the future.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!
-Jon
